Smack Dab Into Mid-century

It's probably my age but I am as much in love with mid-century design as anything.  As a child of the sixties it takes me back to the living rooms of my memories.  The clean lines and low profile of the pieces really speak to me creatively as well.  I rarely paint these gems when I find them, but this was a case where I found only the bottom half of what must have been a two piece something-or-other, with a cabinet stacked on top at some point.  Finding only the bottom, and quite marred and scratched I decided to go with a whimsical distressed design.  It looks white in the photos but the design is a slight shade of pale blue against a flat black background with some of the wood showing through.
Solid as a rock, with three handy drawers this piece can be used in a variety of ways.  A bench, low profile TV table or even as a coffee table, this piece is so versatile.  It could even be used as the base of a shelving unit (I actually did that for a while before deciding to sell the piece.)  This comes from some of my own private stock that is at last (and with some regret) ready to move along to a new home.  I just can't keep everything!!!! Darn-it!  Priced at $165.00 it's a steal!

Mercury Glass Table

I am ...dare I say it...WILDE about mercury glass!  Over the...yes you guessed it...MOON about mercury glass!  So when I found this sweet vintage table with a tinted glass insert I couldn't help but create the look of mercury glass.  The mirror reflection is obvious in this top photo and while the pic below is not the greatest it does show the distressing of mercury glass.
I chose to leave a lot of the glass transparent so that the beautiful detail of the cross bars would show through the top.  This is of course chalk painted and waxed, but just with the simple Annie Sloan Old White and a slightly tinted Annie Sloan clear wax.
I thought about doing a tone on tone design, as I am not inclined to just paint solid colors, but I thought the mercury glass gave the piece enough character, so I went with a clean white table. Because there was not a lot of hand painting in this piece I have to listed at $165.00.
